As the Christmas season wraps us in its warm, radiant embrace, I take a quiet moment to reflect on the year that has passed—the accomplishments, the joyful moments, and most importantly, the memories that make life at Bazurto Kennels so meaningful. Christmas always brings a welcome paws—I mean, pause.
It’s a time to reflect, to look ahead, and to appreciate the present, much like a Labrador gently holding its favorite toy—gently, yet with endless love.
This year, 2024, has been nothing short of magical. Watching our puppies grow, shine, and find their paths has been more than a dream come true; it’s been a confirmation of the passion that gave life to Bazurto Kennels.
A Year of Stars
Much of this year has been spent supporting our stars at Bazurto Kennels, those Labradors who gracefully stepped into the conformation ring and gave it their all. Every step, every movement, and every smile from those who watched were testaments to our hard work and dedication.
But it wasn’t just about the victories. What made this journey special were the new friendships, the shared laughter, and even the “better luck next time” moments. We forged relationships built on mutual respect and a shared love for these extraordinary dogs.
Every ribbon won and every trophy added to the wall has been a reminder of our passion. But more than the glory of the spotlight, it’s been the journey alongside our dogs that has made everything worthwhile.
Every Dog is a Star
Not every puppy is destined to shine in the conformation ring—and that’s okay. In fact, it’s wonderful. Dogs, like people, have unique personalities, passions, and callings. Take Popper, for example. Popper doesn’t care much for the hustle and bustle of the show ring. Her heart belongs to the great outdoors, where she spends her time joyfully retrieving birds with unparalleled precision. Watching her bring those birds back is like witnessing poetry in motion—pure, instinctual, and incredibly beautiful.
Then there are those who prefer the life of a “couch potato,” dogs who excel at giving cuddles and melting hearts. They may not have trophies, but they are the best friends and relaxation partners anyone could ask for. Every Labrador from Bazurto Kennels, whether winning ribbons or wagging their tails in the backyard, is a star in their own unique way.
The Direction We’re Headed
This year reminded me of something essential: every dog has its purpose, and my role as a breeder is to help them find the place where they can truly shine.
In 2025, I will continue focusing on what matters most: the health, temperament, and happiness of every puppy. I aim to constantly improve our breeding program, learn new things, and collaborate with families who value what we stand for.
I also want to ensure that every dog leaving Bazurto Kennels has the opportunity to live a life filled with love and joy—whether as a hiking companion, a devoted family protector, or a champion on the couch.
In addition, I’m considering expanding the ways we support our families, from offering additional resources on puppy care to building an even stronger community around Bazurto dogs.
This is my vision for the future: to raise dogs that bring light into the lives of those around them. And honestly, if that happens, I’ll know I’ve truly succeeded.
